Hoping to Establish Efficient On-site logistics and a High-Level Security System

Being a huge commercial facility, Tokyo Midtown was predicted to have complicated routes delivery vehicles and goods would take, crowded freight elevators, and low turnover rate of the freight handling and parking lot. GOAL worked out solutions utilizing Sagawa Express’s distribution know-how. The team suggested being notified in advance of what kind of goods would be carried in and out of the facility in which time zone so that the facility could centrally manage all the incoming and outgoing vehicles and goods. GOAL pointed out to the clients that this notification would enable the facility to manage a freight elevator operation schedule efficiently and optimize the routes delivery vehicles and goods would take.

Problem

A complex facility so large as can be called a town may have a wide variety of issues other than the routes delivery vehicles and goods take, including safety management, reduction in environmental load, and facility management.

Solution

GOAL proposed an on-site logistics system encompassing not only the management of a receiving and shipping area but also freight elevator operation control, control of the routes delivery vehicles and goods would take, vehicle management, and the security management in physical distribution.

Achievements

GOAL has optimized on-site logistics by offering central management of all the vehicles carrying goods into and out of the facility and the goods carried into and out of the facility; efficient operation of freight elevators in the facility; and thorough control of the routes delivery vehicles and goods take.

Established Solution for Thoroughly Centralized Facility Management

Because of the efficient operation of the freight handling and parking lot and the management of the routes delivery vehicles take, delivery trucks stay inside the facility for the minimum time, ensuring an ideal turnover rate. This solution prevents aggravation of the road environment around the facility, contributing to environmental load minimization through CO2 reduction and higher safety in the vicinity of the facility.

Voice of the Client

As a Partner Working Together to Establish Physical Distribution

The reason why we have adopted the proposals from Sagawa Express was that they have been developed not only from a viewpoint of transporting something but also with a big picture of physical distribution that includes the guiding of vehicles carrying goods into and out of the facility. Sagawa Express always proposes solutions that exceed our expectations by utilizing the experience and know-how it has acquired. I felt Sagawa Express’s strong ambition to build physical distribution for Tokyo Midtown with us.
